Treads makes indestructible, premium leather school shoes for boys and girls aged 6 to 16. They’re so confident about the quality, the shoes come with a 12-month indestructible guarantee. The thing that really attracted me to these shoes, though, is that they’re two sizes of shoes in one! So you could really give the 12-month guarantee a run for its money!
To accommodate growing feet, a removable EVA footbed allows extra room and depth increasing the width from a standard to wide fitting.
Treads is a British company that makes high quality, indestructible, leather school shoes for boys and girls aged between 6 and 16. All Treads’ school shoes come with a 12-month indestructible guarantee – if they fall short of high durability standards, they’re replaced for free.
James is wearing a pair of Treads Madrid style shoes. He is a fairly active boy and comes home with sand inside his shoes on most days after spending his break time troughing through the sandpit. The thing I can really tell you about his school shoes, as I have been far too close to his feet on a regular basis, especially while getting him changed for swimming, is that his feet stink. I don’t know about the leather they use in Clarks’ shoes, but he used to have wet socks and pongy toes at the end of each school day. Treads school shoes have been a pleasant change!
Treads shoes are made with Permair leather that is a breathable membrane on top of real leather, which makes them look super smart and is still soft. The shoes have a soft, padded ankle, and the tongue is also lovely and cushioned.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that I’m not pulling so much hair and fluff from the touch fasten rip tape, as it’s longer than other school shoes James has worn before. I guess when he sits on the carpet at school, he isn’t clicking on so much to the exposed hook part of the touch fasten rip tape. Although James is keen to join the ‘Laces Club’, he doesn’t practice regularly enough on the Build-A-Bear sneakers to have the confidence to go for lace-up school shoes yet.
The sole is tough and strong but also flexible and lightweight. I think they look like they’re made to last the year, including any snow or mud that we might have on the way to school!
Treads shoes are constructed using the ‘Strobel’ technique – the upper is placed into a mould and the sole is injected around it to create a strong, flexible unit that does not require glue. Further features include reinforced heels and seams, and shock-absorbing insoles.
Treads website offers free delivery, free returns and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. As well as being sold on the official Treads website, the range is also available on Amazon.
