We love Tinpo. The boys get up fairly early on the days I’m meant to be up, ninja-style, and on my way to work while they’re still asleep. How do they know?! They don’t even stir on the days I’m doing the school run, and they need to be woken. Anyway, I end up giving them breakfast and popping CBeebies on the telly to keep them occupied while I’m getting dressed. The cheery cry of Tinpoooooo! echoes around my head while I drive to the office.
We were asked if we’d like to have a sneak peek at five new episodes (episodes 11-15) before they air on TV this week.
The boys were also given some little treats to enjoy while they watch the brand new episodes of Tinpo.
What is Tinpo ?
The show features Team Tinpo; a group of four small, animated characters that hop along and work as a team to solve problems. (They hop even though they’ve got 4 legs. I’m not sure why… although, on reflection, Noah has two legs and seems to jump and spin more than walk…)
In each seven-minute bite-sized episode, Team Tinpo are faced with a new issue from a resident of Tinpo Town. The team quickly respond to calls for help by jumping on the Tinpo train to save the day, becoming local heroes, and helping the wider community through their creative
The ideas they come up with are not always the most practical but are certainly fun
Tinpo is an enjoyable program that shows that trial and error and determination can save the day
New episodes of Tinpo on CBeebies
In the new episodes of Tinpo, the team use problem-solving techniques and unique solutions to the problems:
- Ducking and Diving: The baby ducklings are ready to jump the nest, but they can’t fly yet! Can Team Tinpo solve this duck-diving problem?
- A Whiff of Home: Team Tinpo help a lost dog get home, by a nose!
- Drip Drip Drip: It’s a rainy day and Logi-Po just wants to sit quietly and look at a book but first he’s got to stop that drip, drip, drip!
- Roof-a-way Beach: A beach on the roof sounds like fun if it wasn’t for a never-ending stream of clouds casting shade over the whole thing!
- Let’s Go Buy A Kite: It’s hard to get to the kite shop when there’s a gale blowing down the street. But don’t worry: Team Tinpo are here with a radical solution!
Both of my children (aged 4 and 6) enjoy the show, though my eldest son prefers it, as I think it appeals to his problem-solving nature. Other shows James has really enjoyed are Team Umizoomi, and Blaze and the Monster Machines, which have a similar idea of finding a solution to a problem while working as a team and thinking laterally with imagination. Personally I love that Tinpo is on CBeebies, because there are no adverts to worry about, and the content is good quality. I don’t need to be in the room for the whole time it’s on, worried that I won’t be able to switch the TV off at the end because the next show isn’t suitable for a pre-schooler (as can happen on Nick Jr or Channel 5).
Tinpo isn’t just about having great ideas – it’s about getting excited over ideas, about the joy of creation, and remaining curious. The series aims to inspire viewers to feel that anything is possible and that they, like Tinpo, have the capability to improve the world around them in fresh and inspiring ways, and can aspire to great things by partnering imagination and inspiration with persistence, optimism and a bit of “gumption”, which is something James has received a school award for in the past.
When can you watch Tinpo?
Tinpo is on at 6.55am and 3.55pm each day on CBeebies and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
