A couple of weeks ago we went to Washington Wetlands to see the Lego brick animals and a run around outside. I’ve realised that 1. people are pretty interested in the LEGO models and 2. I should’ve written about it before now because 3. the LEGO brick animals have already left Washington on their tour of the country. Sorry, local peeps (though this might help you if you’re going on holiday over the summer.
LEGO brick animal trail at Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
The trail is spread around the grounds, many of the models inside the enclosures with the animals they are based on. We had a map to help us find each of the brick animals. At Washington there was also a quiz, so you could find each model then match the build times to each of the names on the sheet.
We love the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust centre near us. It is a fantastic place for a run around. The scenery is so beautiful. In the winter there are some pretty impressive puddles, so it’s worth going just for those (and the puddle jumping championships are held annually).
We also really love the play area, because there are lots of different areas to explore, and things to do and think about, not just climb, slide, repeat (though you can do that too!).
The LEGO brick trail is on tour over the summer months. You can see the LEGO brick animals at Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust centres around the country:
WWT Caerlaverock (near Dumfries in Scotland) from 6th May to 30th July 2017 – read more details about the prices and LEGO interactive workshop here.
WWT Welney (near Peterborough, Cambridge) from 5th August to 3rd September 2017 – read more about the Welney Wildfowl and Wetland Trust centre here.
This looks like a fab place to explore, Wetlands Centre’s are always a wonderful place to explore with littlies. I always love seeing the photos of these giant Lego statues would love to see one in person, I bet they’re so impressive. It looks like there’s plenty of activities to help kids enjoy their day even if the Lego statues weren’t there too.
Thanks for sharing with me over on #CountryKids.
The LEGO structures are so impressive in person. It’s just astonishing and the amount of time, planning, and care that must go into them is really clear. I love them, and the boys thought they were fab.
We LOVED our trip to WWT earlier this year and will definitely be heading back for a day this summer. The LEGO trail looks fun too x
This looks brilliant! My kids love Lego. I will see if they are touring near us x
Wow those lego sculptures are amazing, my little ones would love them! Even when they move on to pastures new, the Wetlands look like a fab place to visit. #CountryKids
Yes, the Wetlands is a fab day out even when there aren’t LEGO creatures!
This looks fantastic, we have a LEGO animal trail coming to our local zoo this summer and can’t wait to visit!
Love the Lego displays. I wonder if my local one which is Slimbridge will host it? #daysoutwithatoddler
Its a beautiful place, but the lego steals the show! They are very clever and mesmorising #countrykidsfun
The Lego looks fab, I wish we lived closer as looks like so much fun #CountryKids
We did this in Aurndel last year just after Kipper was born. Monkey loved it. Although there was no frog which looks fab! #countrykids
We have never visited here before, I think my little two would love it as they love exploring and running about outdoors. The lego looks fab, I bet it took forever to make xx
Those LEGO models look amazing! My little boy would love that, I will see if they are coming anywhere near us. Thanks for hosting, always get lots of ideas from this fab linky! #Daysoutwithatoddler
Oh gosh!
B would love this, daren’t show him it as he expects mummy to be able to remake everything lego that he sees haha!
I do fancy taking him though, I’m still shocked what people can make out of lego!
