I was given a special discounted takeaway treat to use in exchange for a review of Foodhub – an online takeaway delivery app.
It’s World Sandwich Day today!
November 3rd is World Sandwich Day, and Foodhub recently conducted a survey and found that Brits have named the BURGER as their favourite sandwich! It might be rather strange to think of a burger as a sandwich, but it is essentially a bit of a filling between two slices of bread so I guess it does meet the criteria!
Classic ham and cheese was the second placed sandwich, and that’s my boys’ favourite too.
We decided to order a burger for our evening meal, using the online portal Foodhub.

How does Foodhub work?
Foodhub is available online, using your regular browser on your computer, or via app on your phone. I ordered on the laptop, and it was super easy.
You then have so many options of takeaways! Unlike other major food portals Foodhub doesn’t charge customers a service fee for using their platform. They also don’t charge partner takeaways any commission on orders. So not only are you supporting local businesses by using Foodhub, you also benefit from exclusive discounts which they can afford to offer.
What’s Foodhub like to use?
I ordered online – it was really easy to navigate and I could instantly find which takeaways are available to by keying in my postcode on the landing screen. I found logging in really easy – you can link up to your Google, Apple or Facebook account.
There were 89 places close to us, although only 32 offered burgers, and only 8 were open when I was ordering. However – this is pretty smart in my opinion – you can pre-order! So you can book your meal to be delivered at the time you want it, instead of ordering while you’re hangry and stressed. How many times do you feel like getting a takeaway but you can’t be bothered to wait 40 minutes while they cook and deliver it because you want it right now! Pre-booking allowed us to really consider what we’d actually like, without that horrible feeling of being restricted by what’s open and what can deliver soonest!
To help you choose the best place to order from you can filter the list by discounts, ratings and geographical location.
Each takeaway also tells you if there is a delivery charge, the minimum order for delivery and an estimate of how long it will take for the food to arrive.
After a quick browse, I spotted a great deal from a local Lebanese with an exclusive 25% online Foodhub discount. The Foodhub discount amounted to £8.55, so not to be sniffed at!
Because I had signed in with my Google account when I ordered online, it made switching to the app for the delivery update really easy – one click and I was in, and my order was already in there! It gives you a little countdown timer to let you know when it’s being cooked and then when your food should be at your door.
Our food was fresh and piping hot when it arrived, although unfortunately there was some kind of problem and it wasn’t delivered by the time I’d pre-booked. However, the Foodhub app makes it really easy to ask for an update using the chatbot, and then ring the takeaway directly. You get a little tracker on the app so you know that it’s being cooked, and then when it’s been delivered you can write a review.
The drop-off was contact-free and the driver wore a mask.
Overall, there were lots of discounts available, plus there’s the knowledge that Foodhub doesn’t charge local businesses a commission fee.
