This week we’ve had the absolute pleasure of reviewing a book designed especially for bedtime! Adam, over at the blog ItsAdamAgain wrote this for his son, Matthew. Matthew stars in this story all about the mysterious Shnugglefluffles.
The illustrations in this book are simple and clear. I love that it’s black text on white pages, or vice versa, as we often read by the light of a GroLight or simply through blacked out curtains, so easy to read typeface is my preference.
James has loved this book of Matthew and the Shnugglefluffles. I think a little bit too much, actually, because seeing the Shnugglefluffles has become a bit of a delaying tactic to falling asleep. In order to see a Shnugglefluffle, you have to go through a number of steps, including lying very still, giving a kiss, and counting to ten.
Hearing James counting in his sleepy little voice is the cutest thing ever! He actually counts to ten, then 11, 12, 14, 16, 14, 16, then declares that he hasn’t seen a Shnugglefluffles so we start the process again!
Adam reports that it isn’t the super sleep inducing hit with Matthew he thought it would be, either! However, it is really cute and a very calming book.
Adam has plans for more books starring Matthew and the Shnugglefluffles, and you can be sure they will be cute and fun as this one is.
