Today has been a really busy day!
We went to view a preschool for James first thing in the morning. The people were lovely, the room didn’t smell, and their ideas were simple and sound. James went running off straight away to play, interacted with other children and was sad when we had to leave. All in all, pretty good.
Then we popped to Morrisons for bread. I say ‘bread’, but actually I ended up having a cuppa in the café to feed Noah, and then picked up a load of fruit as well as bread. I also bought James a new coat. You never just get what you’ve gone for, do you?!
On home for lunch, to stay in and play for a bit until the Virgin man came to mend the telly box, and then out to play!
James wore his new coat, and we started off our outside time with James in the pushchair so that I could get my half-hour-minimum walk in. At our six week postnatal check I found out I’ve put on just over a stone while pregnant with Noah. After a slow start with the mastitis and horrible back pain, now I’m ready to get back into shape. So I’m trying to do at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. A walk seems the most sensible and by far the easiest to fit into our day.
The walk took us down this tree-lined street.
The trees provided lots of conversation: the wind had blown lots of branches and twigs on the ground; we spotted a bird’s nest, and I showed James the circles inside a tree stump.
Then we got to the park, which is apparently “the blue park”, according to James.
James opened the gate, and ran quickly along the snake, hissing as he went.
Noah was lovely and cosy inside my coat, and for once wasn’t trying to squash his nose against my chest!
James says this telescope is Upsy Daisy’s!
It might have been cold outside, but look what a beautiful blue sky we had. So lovely to be playing while its bright, rather than dull and overcast.
Today he looked through it and said he could see the sun, “not the sun’s friend”. I asked who the sun’s friend is, and James replied, “the moon!”
After a lovely time in the park, we strolled home to play trains. A lovely busy day has James in bed on time, even though Rob is home! Hurray!
I love the shot of your baby in the sling! Good to have an excuse to get out – half an hour a day sounds like a healthy, achievable target.
Thank you, my view of Noah I the sling is my favourite, but I can’t get a photo of him snuggled so close to my chest; my head gets in the way!
What a lovely idea to do 30 minutes a day walking, it will be great for you and the kids. I wonder how many different routes to the park you can come up with? I have a feeling it’ll be hard not to include this somewhere along the way! Beautiful photos and keep up the challenge. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
There are at least plenty of parks we can walk to round here. We just need the weather to turn so that we aren’t always the only ones in the park!
Naw, you write with such love for your son. It’s beautiful to read. It’s wonderful that you can document the thoughts of his surroundings. How nice it will be to read it back to him when he is older. I can imagine you both giggling and pointing at the screen.
Thanks Penny, I like to spend time with him, he’s great fun. I record some memories here, others go in a notebook – you know, the really juicy things his girlfriend will love!
This was such a lovely post to read, it’s always nice to be outside each day! James looks like he’s having lots of fun being out and eh has such a vivid imagination. Thank you for linking to #OutdoorPlayParty
