I don’t know about you, but I even though I enjoy Instagram, sometimes I feel I need some new accounts to follow to liven up my feed. I asked my followers to name their favourite Instagrammers and the response was diverse, full of inspiring and creative accounts.
Roxy, @grrfeisty
I always like twin accounts, and I am thrilled at this recommendation for Roxy and her two tiny twin baby boys, who recently joined the family in Houston, TX. The photos of real-life with a three-year-old plus baby twins are relatable and beautiful.
Chrissy Teigen, @chrissyteigen
Twenty-seven and a half million followers can’t be wrong, and lots of my Instagram followers also recommend that you follow Chrissy, too. If you want to watch a super cute mini-John Legend (Chrissy and John’s son, above), along with funny captions commenting on daily life, this is for you. Chrissy and John have a great relationship and the account is a sweet catalogue of their family together.
Deborah, @superbusymum
This account is full of family life in Northern Ireland, with some crafting ideas, free printables, and the occasional adventure.
Caroline South, @caroline_south
Caroline makes the most beautiful images from the most ordinary household objects. Her creativity knows no bounds. Although all the pictures are gorgeous, it’s sad and awful that some of them are made from objects found during a beach clean.
Wyatt and Jack, @wyattandjack
Wyatt and Jack are doing amazing things; they make sustainable bags from broken bouncy castles, deckchairs and inflatables. They’re worth a follow to bring vibrant colour to your feed.
The Road Before Us, @theroadbeforeus
Lindsay is a Catholic stay-at-home wife, mother, and teacher busy homeschooling two curious, energetic boys! This Instagram account is full of dreamy travel shots that really make me want to pack a bag and go right now to wherever they are!
Jade, @jade.lisa.home
This is a pale pastel or white house kind of account, which I know I would struggle to maintain, but somehow Jade manages it with two boys and twin girls! Gorgeous, inspirational home decor.
Anne ten Donkelaar, @annetendonkelaar
A damaged butterfly, a broken twig, a bumblebee, some strangely grown weeds: Anne finds all these unique discoveries and takes them to her studio. Her finds will inspire you. While looking at them you make up stories about their lives and the beauty and colour will brighten your Instagram feed.
Matt Wilson, @airtightart
Using recycled and organic materials – scrap metal, reclaimed wood, bone, etc., Matt’s sculptures are beautiful. An Instagram account to follow to admire the handiwork of an artist.
Varpu @her_finland
Varpu launched Her Finland after she noticed that it was easy to find general advice about Finland on the internet, but much harder to find detailed cultural and travel information from a local’s point of view. This Instagram account may just inspire you to book that trip to Finland you’ve been considering for years…
Liselotte, @lizzuplans
This Instagram account is a colourful, happy, fun, and engaging space for stationery, planners, and washi tape from all over the world. If you love stationery there is so much to drool over (and creative hashtags to follow, too, if you want to fall down a gorgeous paper rabbit hole).
Amy, @the_enchanted_mother
Amy lives with her husband and two boys in North East England. They are caretakers of a big old hall, set in private woodland. The Instagram account logs her life as a slow living, home educating / unschooling family. If you love forests and knitting, with happy little faces thrown in for good measure, you will love this Instagram account!
Paula Kuka, @common_wild
Paula is an illustrator and author, her account is full of funny, relatable “musings on motherhood”, and you will nod along while smiling, before hitting ‘Share’ on every one of her posts as it pops into your Instagram feed.
Michele Vig, @neatlittlenest
Michele is a professional organiser and her Instagram is full of beautifully organised spaces. I love the clean airiness of it all. A bit like looking in a shop window, you can appreciate the effort and aesthetics. I’m always available for a quick tidy up here, anytime you’re free, Michele!
Jen Walshaw, @muminthemadhouse
In 2009 Jen had a health scare and after a double mastectomy and sepsis, she was determined to cram it all in and to record it just in case… She began a blog (Mum in the Mad House) and started pouring out her heart and soul. Her Instagram account is raw and “real”, with crafts, quilting and printables.
Tiny House Calls @tinyhousecalls
Other people’s creativity and tenacity know no bounds. This delightful account chronicles life in a doll’s house. The details! The design! You are going to love this account, though I bet you sometimes forget the perfect decor you’re coveting is just inches high.
Danielle Lisle, @atthelisles
More beautiful interior photos, this time full-sized. Danielle was awarded Real Homes Home and Garden of the Year Best Home Makeover, and it’s not hard to see why. Her gorgeous home is in the North East and I love the view from the garden of Newcastle and Gateshead.
Noni Sadzi, @nonisadzi
Noni Sadzi is a visual storyteller who photographs still life, producing creative portraiture. Her Instagram is dark, moody, full of life.
Kelly Havens Stickle, @kellyshavensohio
This is real rural living, in the countryside of Ohio. Kelly captures her life so well, and gorgeous photos are accompanied by long, heartfelt captions.
Helena, @livelaughgo
Well, it would be silly of me not to include myself in this list of 20 Instagram accounts to follow in 2020! I post photos from our life in the North East, as well as our travels further afield.
I hope you’ve found some new accounts to follow. I’m always looking for more inspiration and I have loved these recommendations from my followers! I might do another list in the future, so if you know any Instagram accounts you can recommend, please do drop me a comment with the link.
Hi Helena, oh my gosh, thank you so much for having me on the list. I found so many new accounts to follow. <3 And that "Mum hacks that totally backfire" list is seriously epic!
You are so welcome; you came very highly commended! 🙂
